Porto Montenegro, the superyacht marina and luxury lifestyle destination attended ACREW’s prestigious ‘Crew Awards 2021 Ceremony’ that took place at World Trade Centre in the Port of Barcelona on the 9th October. Earlier this year, Porto Montenegro was awarded with the highly acclaimed ACREW award of ‘World Best Superyacht Marina,’ following their win of ACREW’s Adriatic’s ‘Best Superyacht Marina’ award in 2020.

The Crew Awards have been developed to recognise superyacht Crew Members who have proven to be the very best in the industry. The awards are both for personal achievement and a significant industry-wide recognition of professional excellence.

This year, ACREW celebrated the 4th Edition of The Crew Awards with over 300 crew and businesses in attendance and a livestream for participants and a wider audience of 17,000 to attend the event in real-time. The theme was Prohibition, representing the continuing excellence and significance of the event with a dress code symbolic of glitz and the glamour the Roaring Twenties. Even the exclusive afterparty was in a secret destination that replicated a 1920s speakeasy.

Porto Montenegro was one of three Gold Sponsors of The Crew Awards, alongside Luxury Hospitality and Marina Port Vell. During the ceremony, Porto Montenegro exclusively announced that the 2022 Crew Awards will officially be hosted in the coastal town of Tivat, located in Porto Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor. The crew will enjoy a fun-filled weekend full of activities in the Mediterranean’s leading luxury marina village of Porto Montenegro and the UNESCO protected Boka Bay.

Tony Browne, Marina Director at Porto Montenegro, comments: ‘We had a fantastic time at the Crew Awards in Barcelona and were so thrilled with the guest's enthusiasm upon revealing that Porto Montenegro will host the event in 2022. This important event highlights the work of captains and crew in our industry and pays due respect to all professionals who show extra bits of care and pride with their work.' Crew Awards represent the logical step forward in Porto Montenegro and ACREW's three-year long partnership and proves that their brand visions are aligned.

Onno Ebens, Managing Director at ACREW, comments: “We've been working closely with Porto Montenegro for three years now, which allowed us enough time to assess the quality of our partnership and the value that a marina of this level can bring to the Crew Awards. ACREW truly cares about the wellbeing of the crew and the industry reputation at large. Taking it a step further and inviting captains and crew to spend a full weekend celebrating their profession and excellence is part of a bigger vision that we are committed to delivering. We always knew this was a significant important event for the superyacht industry and we are very pleased that prestigious marina destinations such as Porto Montenegro recognise and support it.”

With the new format, 2022 event will allow for more opportunities for captains, crew members, and industry representatives to connect and network on the coast of Adriatic. “The Crew Awards 2022 is a fantastic opportunity for us to have the industry experience the essence of Porto Montenegro, with a weekend full of exciting activities. We are extremely proud to be partnering with ACREW to host such a prestigious event,“ concludes Tony Browne.
