Ralph Lauren Augments RL67 Safari Chronometer collection

By Paul Joseph

Taking inspiration from a "spirit of exotic adventure", Ralph Lauren’s Safari collection of watches have grown to become a major favourite for those with a passion for horology as well as high-end fashion and style.

The first Safari chronometer was launched in 2013 with the RL67 Safari Chronometer watch in both 45mm and 39mm case sizes. And earlier this year the brand augmented the collection with two new models in a larger 50mm size, making it one of the largest on the market

The RL67 Safari Chronometer, which was unveiled in February, comes in two versions – the Safari Grand Date 50mm Camo Dial and the Safari Grand Date 50mm Black Dial. The azure varnished camo dial timepiece, much alike the original, features an “aged” steel case along with a dark olive green alligator strap.

The Camouflage pattern is an extension of Ralph Lauren’s hallmark fusion of elegance and fashion combined with utility. This water-resistant chronograph is powered by the RL3105 self-winding chronometer movement with a power reserve of 42 hours.

Each movement is certified by the COSC, the independent Swiss testing centre that adheres to rigorous standards to ensure the reliability and standards of watches.

Large, easily readable numbers and hour and minute hands are treated with black Super-LumiNova, which glows in the dark. An additional selection of canvas straps is available separately, including blue, black and faded versions known as “watered down” – all lined with leather.

Better known for its luxury apparel, Ralph Lauren has diversified in recent years by creating a range of luxury goods and accessories including high-end watches.
