Ralph Lauren Launches New Automotive Chronograph
Italian fashion house Ralph Lauren has created a new timepiece billed as combining the brand’s famous founder’s passion for both watches and cars.
The Ralph Lauren Automotive Chronograph feature several nods to the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, one of Ralph Lauren’s favourite cars, including six exposed screws on the bezel, replicating the ones on the hub that hold the steering wheel of the Bugatti to the column.
Other notable features borrowed from the classic Bugatti include stylized lugs that attach the watch to the black alligator strap, designed to mimic the car’s curvilinear bodywork.
The 45mm watch boasts a round stainless steel case, polished and brushed to obtain a striking matte finish.
The Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe was the winner of last year’s prestigious Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza in Italy.
Better known for its luxury apparel, Ralph Lauren has diversified in recent years by creating a range of luxury goods and accessories including high-end watches.
