Ralph Lauren to Open First Restaurant in NYC

By Paul Joseph

Fashion label Ralph Lauren is continuing its diversification into restaurants by opening its first eaterie in New York, it has been reported.

According to the New York Times, the American brand will open the 178-sear Polo Bar, located just a short hop from their flagship store on Manhattan’s prestigious Fifth Avenue.

Speaking to the Times, the brand’s eponymous founder Ralph Lauren said: "I’m about longevity, I’m about timeless. It was not my idea to be trendy. I don’t want to be the hot restaurant. I want to be the restaurant you want to go to twice a week."

Founded in 1967, Polo Ralph Lauren has since grown to become one of the world’s most renowned lifestyle and fashion brands.

Ralph Lauren already operates branded restaurants in both Paris and Chicago.
