Rolling out of James Bond and into reality, Rinspeed's new sQuba diving Concept Car takes to the deep with aplomb.

Making use of two propellers in the stern and two jet drives in the bow, this rear-wheel drive vehicle is powered by an electric motor putting out 37kW at 4,500/min with 160nm of torque at 1,500/min. According to further specs released by Rinspeed, the rear jet drives of the concept use two separate 3.6 kW Rotinor electric engines and the body panels of the 920kg two-seater vehicle are composed of carbon nano tubes with a steel chassis beneath.

Both driver and passenger breathe easily while onboard thanks to 1x15 litre and 1x18 litre ScubaPro air supplies in a self-contained ob-board system. Once on land, the sQuba drives itself at the push of a button.

When speaking of the sQuba diving Concept Car, one can't avoid the topic of 'The Spy Who Loved Me', and Rinspeed boss Frank M.Rinderknecht doesn't try to. Describing the car, he refers to the famous movie scene, "This amazing, yet at the same time animated, film sequence materializes and becomes reality, in today's world."
