The Ritz-Carlton is to open a new waterfront hotel in Abu Dhabi, the luxury hotel group has announced.

Set amid landscaped gardens with its own private beach and overlooking the Grand Canal, the hotel will feature 447 lavish guestrooms and suites, as well as 85 villas.

Inspired by the ancient Renaissance architecture as well as  the city of Venice, the property will consist of ten stately buildings arranged in a crescent formation, complete with artfully designed water features dotted throughout.

Expected to open later this year, it will mark Ritz Carlton’s third hotel in the United Arab Emirates.

Herve Humler, president and chief operations officer at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, said: “We are delighted to be bringing The Ritz-Carlton’s renowned levels of hospitality to the power capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Mr Humler described the new hotel as “a welcome landmark” and “the highlight of the new waterfront development”.

Standout features at the hotel will be its vast one and two-bedroom villas, each boasting spacious outdoor terraces and personalized butler service. The hotel will also feature The Ritz-Carlton Club, a private floor accessible only by elevator key and offering complimentary food and beverages throughout the day.

Other facilities will include three high quality ethnic restaurants, a 1,500 square metre ballroom, a fitness centre, tennis courts, a giant outdoor swimming pool, and an ESPA spa.
