RM Auctions Yields $11.5m at ‘Car of Dreams’ Museum Sale
Canadian auction house giants RM Auctions completed its 2012 calendar of events in style on Saturday, generating more than $11.5 million in sales at its John Staluppi ‘Cars ofDreams’ Collection sale in North Palm Beach, Florida.
Consisting of a decade’s worth of collecting by renowned entrepreneur John Staluppi, the single-day auction presented a stunning range of American automobiles and memorabilia before a standing-room only crowd.
Notable sales included a 1956 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible for $299,750 – a new world record for a 1956 Cadillac Convertible sold at auction – and a 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500-KR Convertible for $264,000.
But perhaps the most striking lot of the event was the sale of a historic 1918 Herschell-Spillman 32’ Carousel. Fully operational after restoration, the carousel sold for an impressive $460,000.

RM Auctions will kick off its 2013 auction season in Phoenix, Arizona in January, followed by the presentation of the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum Collection - a collection of the world’s smallest cars - in Madison, Georgia in February.
