RM Sotheby’s Monaco Sale to Feature Riva Ferrari

By Paul Joseph

An ultra-rare 1990 Riva Ferrari 32 motorboat is to take centre stage at the Biennial RM Sotheby’s auction in Monaco this May.

Taking place during the prestigious Grand Prix Historique, the sale is one of the highlights of the auction year, and the presence of the Riva Ferrari 32 will only add to this year’s occasion.

The 28th of only 40 produced, the vessel is the result of a collaboration between two iconic Italian names: Riva and Ferrari. Named after its length (in feet), it features a spacious sleeping cabin located below the bow.

Twin 390 horsepower V-8s rest abaft, while Vulcano 400 engines are designed to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h (62 mph).

Consistent with the racing-style engines is the F1-inspired hull – finished in Ferrari’s flagship Rosso Corsa – as is the carbon fibre spoiler aloft.

The boat includes three sets of keys, signed paperwork from Riva to certify its originality, and a boat trailer and custom cover.

The auction will take place on May 14th at the glamorous Le Sporting venue in Monaco.

Other notable boats to go under the hammer in Monaco will include a 1974 Riva Aquarama Special, called "Lealena".
