Rococo Dessous Launch 24-Karat Gold Lingerie Collection

By Paul Joseph

Luxury lingerie makers Rococo Dessous have created what is being billed as the world’s first 24-karat gold lingerie collection.

Designed by former Victoria’s Secret designer Breanna Lee, the new collection features gilded bras, underwear and nightgowns that all incorporate the thread which is derived from a special Swiss gold fabric.

Invented and patented in Switzerland in 2011, the collection has been inspired by the popularity of gold apparel in ancient times, with each set named after a historical royal female figure: Cleopatra VII (last pharaoh of Egypt), Françoise-Marie de Bourbon (second wife of King Louis XIV ), Tsarina Alexandra (wife of Czar Nicholas I), and Marie Antoinette.

“The desire for gold fashion was born in the world’s first grand civilization in Egypt, where Tutankhamun wore linens embroidered with the precious metal,” Rococo Dessous explains on their website.

Each item is hand-stitched with the gold thread and black silks, and is strictly made to custom order. Pearls and jewels may be added as well, for an additional fee

The collection ranges from $3,000 for to $6,000 for a set, and can only be purchased by private appointment in select boutiques.
