Sapphire Experience Represents a Fresh Focus for MYS

By Paul Joseph

Anyone who has attended the Monaco Yacht Show in recent years will testify to the fact that Port Hercules is, for want of a more elegant phrase, fit to burst.

With the waters and docks filled to capacity with stunning superyachts and exhibitors showcasing their luxury wares, the opportunity for growth is minimal.

Instead, show organisers have turned their attention to delivering the best platform for business and the most efficient solutions for exhibitors to liaise with clients.

One way they have done so is by arranging the show’s layout into thematic zones around the quays and tents, allowing visitors to concentrate on their own sectors of interest.

In the words of one MYS exhibitor. “When boat shows are billed as a fun family day out, the cachet value is diluted. I think that whenever a show targets very affluent people, it should offer an experience in keeping with their lifestyles.”

In response to this sentiment, several ventures have been introduced to the show in recent years - one of which is the Sapphire Experience, a VIP program aimed at premium clients to enhance their show experience. Launched in 2016, the bespoke program includes a Concierge Service that coordinates private visits aboard superyachts on display, as well as a calendar of festivities during the four-day event.

On the eve of the show, for example, Sapphire Experience guests join a select list of industry influencers and luxury partners invited to attend the opening gala party, which includes the prestigious MYS Superyacht Awards Ceremony.

There’s also the chance to enjoy lunch at the official restaurant of the MYS, conduct test drives at the Car Deck, gain access to the Private VIP Lounge at the Upper Deck Lounge, indulge in a champagne tasting at the Upper Deck Lounge champagne bar, and make use of a luxury courtesy car service during your stay in Monaco.

Since its launch three years ago, the popularity of the Sapphire Experience has grown and grown, and with the 2020 edition just around the corner, the expectation is that this new chapter in the MYS story will go down as a resounding success.

The Sapphire Experience cannot be purchased; instead the show has a dedicated team who identifies whether a client is genuinely interested in chartering or purchasing a yacht before accepting them ono the Experience. For more information, click here.
