Scubacraft: sports boat and submersible in one

By superyachts.com

Using first-class industrial design and patented technology, the Scubacraft SC3 and SC6 take passengers on high-speed trips across the water and controlled journeys beneath.

The SC6 is the latest of the models, designed specifically with professional divers in mind and to act as a possible craft for underwater adventure tours.

As a surface craft the Scubacraft travels at speeds of 50 miles per hour, while as a streamlined submersible it can fly as low as 30 metres and travel at speeds of three knots for up to 90 minutes at a time.

It takes only minutes for the watertoy to convert from boat to submersible, transporting its passengers straight from the shore or yacht deck to the dive location without the need for extra tenders or toys.

The craft uses a powerful jet propulsion system that allows the boat to tow a water-skier and inflatable water toys on top of the water while a trimaran hull configuration provides a stable diving platform.

To ensure safety and ideal operation standards, the vessel is controlled by a single person both above and below the water and occupants fit scuba gear before it sinks below the water as a submersible.

Amongst the standard features of the Scubacraft are emergency back-up systems, automatic depth control, an integrated Surface Maerker Buoy, and an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon.

Besides the standard features, a whole range of accessories from lights and cameras to VHF radio, GPS and underwater communications can be added in order to enhance the vessel’s underwater capabilities.

Interested customers can now pre-order their own Scubacraft from the company’s website. The order process requires a 5 percent fully-refundable deposit followed by a further 45 percent deposit 180 days prior to delivery. The final 50 percent payment is due before taking delivery of the watertoy.
