Sharjah to Receive New “Traditional” Luxury Hotel

A lavish new hotel resort featuring a number of heritage buildings is set to open in Sharjah in 2015.

Spread across 10,000 square metres and featuring 54 guest rooms – many opening on to pristine private courtyards - the Al Bait Sharjah hotel will include heritage houses Bait Ibrahim Al Midfa, Bait Eissa Al Midfa, Bait Abdul Rahman Al Midfa, Bait Abdullah Al Mahmoud and Al Midfa Majlis, all of which will be undergo renovation prior to the hotel opening.

When complete, the hotel will feature traditional Arabic-style décor and design, including arched porticos, rooftop terraces and a maze of pedestrian arteries.

Speaking about the new hotel, Shaikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, said: “As the first of its kind in the emirate and the region, Al Bait Hotel in Sharjah is expected to be a unique tourism icon, and will undoubtedly draw the attention of tourists and residents alike.

“Sharjah offers residents and visitors to the UAE a very different experience from that of the other emirates. Our emphasis has always been about finding that delicate balance between safeguarding our identity and embracing progress and development.”

She continued: “Within this scope, the Heart of Sharjah is being developed to act as the beating heart of the emirate, a place that will bring visitors from every walk of life together and with its design that seamlessly blends the past and the present.”

Other lavish amenities at the hotel will include a traditional Arabic tea and coffee house, a day spa and gourmet restaurants serving classic Arabic fare.
