SIHH Draws Global Crowd of Watch Industry Professionals

The 2014 edition of SIHH watch fair came to a close in Geneva on Friday, following five days of showcasing some of the world’s most beautiful and technologically advanced timepieces.

Sixteen fine watch maisons were present to display their latest creations in front of an exclusive assortment of industry experts at what is one of the foremost events in the horological calendar.

Some 13,000 visitors enjoyed the hushed surroundings covering 30,000 square metres of space at the at Palexpo exhibition centre, located just a few minutes from Geneva Airport.

Amongst the brands in attendance at the Geneva show was legendary French jeweller Cartier, who unveiled a spectacular new collection called ‘L’Heure Envoûtée de Cartier’, which includes a watch that can also double up as a decorative brooch.

Other highlights included the launch of the Audemars Piguet white ceramic concept watch, the Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon 42 mm and Montblanc’s brand new Meisterstück Heritage collection,

In honour of the industry’s historical and cultural contributions, this year’s SIHH also staged, for the first time in Switzerland, "Horology, a child of astronomy”, an exhibition showing visitors how watch makers have utilised astronomical complications down the years.

SIHH took place between the 20th and 24th January.
