Six senses Douro Valley A Wine Lover’s Paradise

By Paul Joseph

Six Senses Hotels Resorts, & Spas is to open a lavish new property in Portugal in the heart of one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions.

Nestled in Portugal’s Douro Valley, a Unesco World Heritage site in the northern reaches of the country, Six senses Douro Valley is housed in a 19th century manor estate with its 50 rooms overlooking the region’s surrounding vineyards

Guests can visit nearby wineries to meet with winemakers, make their own blend at an estate and take courses in the hotel’s wine library, where staff are on hand to provide information about local grape varieties and lead tastings.

Other notable features and amenities include a 23,700-square-foot spa with wine-themed body scrubs and facials, three restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a large outdoor yoga pavilion and an organic garden supplying herbs and vegetables to the hotel kitchen.

Located four hours from Lisbon, the Six Senses Douro Valley is scheduled to open in July.

Founded in 1995, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has a wide number of residences situated across the world.
