Sleep Aboard a Superyacht at Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives Resort

With the growing trend for Instagram-inspired travellers to seek out unique experiences, the world of high-end hospitality is having to be ever more creative in its offerings to discerning guests.

When it comes to guest room innovation, the focus until now has been on in-room technology, but one luxury Maldives resort has pushed the boundaries significantly further by giving guests the chance to select as their sleeping quarters a stunning 85-foot superyacht.

Nestled on an atoll island a 20-minute catamaran ride from Male’s airport, Jumeirah Vittaveli has become the Maldives’ first ever resort to offer a choice between a unique selection of thatched and coral-clad villas and a brand new superyacht called MY Vittaveli.

The Azimut-built yacht accommodates up to eight guests for overnight stays, or up to 20 guests for leisurely day-time cruises. As you’d expect from a state-of-the-art yacht of this scale, it is packed with lavish amenities including a four-person Jacuzzi on the top deck and an open-air dining area on the main deck.

The vessel’s luxurious look and feel is accentuated by beautifully crafted wood joinery, cherry wood panels and Italian marble inlays, while each cabin’s en-suite bathroom is equipped with hydrosonic massage bathtubs and luxury Hermès amenities.

Guests can use the yacht as a base from which to enjoy any number of memorable water-based activities, including snorkelling with whale sharks and cruising to deserted islands. They can also pick and choose when to return to terra firma to indulge in the resort’s own multitude of upscale land-based facilities, such as an Asian-inspired spa, overwater gymnasium, French colonial-styled restaurant, circular cocktail bar with panoramic ocean views, and 5-star PADI dive centre.

Chidren are catered for by an extensive kids' club and an island-wide treasure hunt, allowing parents to relax and unwind while their littles ones are kept entertained.

If that's not enough to whet your appetite, the resort is also home to the Maldives’ first eco-friendly synthetic ice rink that invites guests to skate while overlooking the powder soft beaches and crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
