Tesla Model 3 Earns Top Prize at Electric Car Awards

Tesla continue to be at the vanguard of high-end electric cars and now the California-based company has earned another accolade after winning a prestigious prize at an electric car awards ceremony.

Hosted by DrivingElectric, a sister website to Auto Express, the ceremony saw the Tesla Model 3 pick up the “Best electrified performance car” award.

An electric four-door sedan, the Model 3 entered production in 2017 and rapidly became a huge success, topping global sales of plug-in electric cars in 2018,

Vicky Parrott, associate editor at DrivingElectric, said: “The explosion in the number of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models means there’s an electrified car for everyone, regardless of how they use their car.

“With electric company-car drivers set to benefit from zero per cent Benefit-in-Kind rates and the growth of Britain’s public charging network, electric cars are no longer the future – they’re the cars of today.”

Other high-end cars to pick up prizes at the ceremony include the Jaguar I-Pace (Best premium electric car), the Mercedes-Benz A 250 e (Best small plug-in hybrid car), and BMW X5 xDrive45e (Best premium plug-in hybrid car).

Tesla Motors was founded in California in 2003 by business magnate, investor and inventor Elon Musk.
