The Alpha One Luxury Smartphone by Lamborghini

The luxury smartphone market has never quite taken off in the way one may have anticipated, with previous market leaders Vertu having now given up the ghost.

But others are continuing to push this niche segment and the latest to do so are world-renowned sports car makers Lamborghini.

The Italian marquee has launched an Android smartphone called the Alpha One, available exclusively at prestigious London department store Harrods.

The phone’s exterior boasts an Italian handmade leather finish with gold-plated stainless steel surrounding the handset and it also comes with a custom Italian leather phone case.

Furthermore, the phone uses the same liquid alloy used in Lamborghini’s cars which is said to make it more resistant to scratches, dents, chemicals, and corrosion.

As for the technical specifications, they include a 5.5-inch WQHD, 2560×1440 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 3,250mAh battery, Dual SIM card support, and a fingerprint scanner.

Earlier this month Vertu announced it would be shutting down its UK manufacturing operations after 19 years in business.

The Alpha One Android by Lamborghini is priced at $2,450.
