The $20,000 Feng Shui Living Space on Wheels

By P. Joseph

Interior design and Feng Shui experts Space Flavor have created a $20,000 compact, mobile cube that comprises an office, bedroom and meditation space.

The bespoke, two-storey cube runs on high-capacity casters allowing it to be moved in different directions to optimize its Feng Shui capacities. Feng Shui is based on ancient Chinese beliefs about how humans interact with their environment.

San Francisco-based Space Flavor were commissioned to build the eight-foot cube by a Feng Shui practitioner for his loft. The client – a Feng Shui teacher – found he was often forced to juggle his desk, closets and other furniture to make room for his students.

Openings to the study and the bed are placed at opposite corners, whilst the meditation platform sits high in the ‘loft’, secluded from activities below, and accessed by a concealed staircase.

Translucent roller shades, a shoji screen and frosted acrylic panels allow daylight to filter through, whilst at night the cube is illuminated. A shoe drawer is integrated in the internal stairway between the two floors of the cube.
