The First All-Electric Harley Davidson: Yours for $30,000

The American manufacturers have been teasing the LiveWire for four years now and the electric bike marks a significant shift for the brand - one that comes with some risk given how their core base of fans around the world may respond.

Harley haven't divulged the exact figures but claim that the LiveWire’s power from its H-D Revelation electric powertrain will arrive at 100-percent as soon as you twist the throttle, which will propel the bike from zero to 60mph in under 3.5 seconds.

Since it’s an electric motorcycle, it lacks a gearbox and clutch, which will make it easier for newer riders to ride. According to Harley, the LiveWire has a range of 110 miles of “urban roads” on a full charge of the Panasonic battery pack and regenerative braking will recharge the battery when the bike slows down.

“Innovation that moves the body and soul has always been at the heart of our brand, and this next chapter in our history is about creating products and opportunities for existing and aspiring riders of all ages and walks of life.”

Harley-Davidson also demonstrated the LiveWire’s smart features at the Vegas show. It will feature H-D Connect, which will communicate with a smartphone app via an embedded 4G LTE connection.

Using the app, riders will be able to access everything from remote status checks, battery charging status and time to completion, trip planning, theft or vandalism notification, GPS tracking, service reminders, diagnostics and more. 

The LiveWire has a starting price of $29,799 and is now open for pre-order.
