The Hand-Painted 24kt Gold iPhone Megaphones

By Paul Joseph

Italian design company en&is have released a new series of ceramic megaphones for iPhones and iPod Touches, including one version polished and hand-painted in 24-karat gold.

The Ceramic Passive Megaphones are able to transmit sound without using electricity, thanks to their horn like shape, with an opening for an iDevice at the top end.

First presented in white at the Salone Satellite trade fair in Italy earlier this year, the amplifiers are now available in two additional shades - polished black and hand-painted 24kt gold.

Compatible with the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch. the amplifiers are based on a thin wooden frame that allows the object to float off the table, increasing the vibration of the object and optimizing sound emission.

The black and white versions of the Ceramic Passive Megaphones are priced at around $550 (€399), while the gold version is priced at approximately $825 (€599).
