The Imperial Blue Timepiece by Ulysse Nardin

By Paul Joseph

Swiss luxury watchmakers Ulysse Nardin have created a stunning limited edition wrist watch called the Imperial Blue.

Limited to just 20 pieces, the 46mm watch boasts an array of blue, including a blue sapphire bridge and a blue flying tourbillon case set with a faceted blue sapphire gemstone.

A Sonnerie Westminster Carillon means that the minute repeater chimes the on-demand time using four different chimes (Mi-Do-Re-Sol), while also ringing these four notes for every passing hour.

Turn over the Imperial Blue and the case back reveals the movement’s underside, with metal bridges finished with Côtes-de-Genève stripes and finely beveled and polished edges also given the blue treatment.

Other notable features include an 18-karat white gold case, water-resistance up to 30 metres and an alligator skin strap.

The Imperial Blue Timepiece by Ulysse Nardin is priced at around $850,000.

Founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1846, Ulysse Nardin has grown to become one of the world’s most famous luxury watchmakers. Historically, the brand is best known for its manufacture of highly accurate marine chronometers.
