The Inn at English Harbour the Perfect Base for Antigua Sailing Week

By Paul Joseph

Antigua Sailing Week, one of the world’s most prestigious yacht racing events, takes place next month and there is no better vantage point from which to catch the action than The Inn at English Harbour.

Nestled on the harbour’s edge, the luxury Antigua hotel provides guests with a chance to be at the heart of the sailing action, which sees up to 200 yachts of all sizes go head to head on the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea.

The hotel’s prime location means the usually quiet and serene hideaway is transformed into a vibrant and bustling hub of activity. Each year up to 5,000 spectators gather in Antigua to witness the high profile event.

Blending traditional colonial style with contemporary touches, The Inn at English Harbour features an array of amenities including beachside Cabanas and lavish Suites in the resort’s beautiful gardens, a state-of-the-art Spa, two tennis courts and a stylish swimming pool right on the beach.

Guests can relax in the morning by the pool or on the white sands of the beach before heading back to the hotel for the best views possible of the races.

Taking place over five days (25th April – 1st May), Antigua Sailing Week sees participating yachts negotiate a variety of courses off the island’s south coast.

Post-race social events and prize-giving ceremonies are held every evening at the Antigua Yacht Club, culminating in an awards ceremony and a Caribbean street party.

Nightly rates at The Inn at English Harbour are £500 for a Beach Cabana or £600 for a Junior Suite, for guests staying between 1st March and 10th May 2015.
