The John Walker; first bottle released

By superyachts.com

Set to be the king of the Diageo portfolio, the esteemed premium drinks company has released its most expensive whisky yet simply named The John Walker.

The John Walker has been created from a blend of a small variety of fine whiskies taken from distilleries which operated during the 1800s; when John Walker himself was still alive. The whiskies themselves were selected from more than seven million casks, and only nine distilleries were chosen.

The John Walker is believed to feature notes of fresh citrus slowly replaced by mature fruits on the nose.

Master Blender Jim Beveridge has signed the very first bottle which is now being auctioned at Changi Airport to raise money for non-profit charity The Smile Train. Bids begin at US$3,000.

Other brands in the Diageo portfolio include Guinness, Smirnoff and Baileys.
