The Portonovi Project Helping Montenegro Make Waves

By Rose-Hannah Lishman

Embodying the elegant character and charm of the Dalmatian coast, project Portonovi is bringing stylish redesign to the Montenegro Riviera and providing a sought-after sight for ultimate relaxation, upscale dining and luxury living.

Portonovi is soon to become the region's most desirable and sophisticated destination, nestled between Montenegro’s mountains and the Adriatic Sea. It is soon to harbour nearly 300 bespoke dwellings, becoming home to Europe’s first One&Only resort and spa, and a members-only Yacht Club exclusively crafted by Winch Design.

By 2017, visitors will be able to select one of 220 berths as a base to explore 26 hectares of designer boutiques, indulge in cuisine from award-winning chefs and set sail into the dazzling Adriatic, carefully moulding Montenegro into one of the best access points in the Eastern-Med.

The €650 million development sits on Boka Bay, at the heart Montenegro’s coastline, and will offer spectacular views of the new secluded marina providing a stepping stone for yachts and super yachts wishing to explore the Adriatic. Amongst landscaped gardens, waterfront feasting and Mediterranean village life, the proposed range of impressive residences is to include spacious and stylish villas and sleek penthouse apartments with infinity pools imposing over the harbour.

Just last week, the first 113 properties went on sale and Chairman Ahmet Erentok reassured potential investors: “We are creating a destination which will exceed expectations, providing some of today’s most enriching experiences that will become tomorrow’s benchmarks.

“From the high level of pre-registrations we have already received, we have every reason to expect ‎strong sales from the outset, and we look forward to welcoming the first residents to Portonovi next year.”

Designed by architects at Harper Downie and CallisonRTKL, the Portonovi properties will be complemented beautifully by interior design from Harrods Interiors, where even the most discerning clients will be able to personalise their new bolt-hole.

What’s more, neighboured by Croatia and across the pond from Italy’s east coast, the new haven for luxury lifestyle will land in a continental expanse already welcoming guests into hot-spots such as sun-drenched Dubrovnik, Hvar Island and Venice’s emerald Laguna.

An hour’s drive from bordering Croatia, the only question left to answer is what took Montenegro so long to join the cultural melting pot of amazing Adriatic anchorages. Portonovi Marina is moving into the Eastern Mediterranean with effortless appeal.
