The Rapide: Aston Martin's First True 4-Door

By S.Liu

Luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin has launched what it describes as the first true 4-door model in its 97-year history.

The 6.0 litre V12 Aston Martin Rapide includes four full-sized seats, as well as generous accommodation and luggage space.

The British manufacturer has already produced several four-door cars, including the V8 and DB9. But the Rapide is the first Aston Martin sports model equipped with the space to comfortably carry four passengers.

Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr. Ulrich Bez, said: “Rapide is the culmination of the Aston Martin range of sports cars, a car that seals the revival of a truly admired marque.

“There is now an Aston Martin for every taste and for every use. The Rapide is the most versatile, bringing a new benchmark of luxury and refinement to both driver and passenger.”

Many of the signature elements of Aston Martin models are evident in the new four-door format, with key features such as the 'swan wing' doors – rising upwards and outwards as they swing open – facilitating access to the two rear seats.

The car also features a specially-tailored Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system, heated memory seats, dual cast brakes and an Adaptive Damping System.

Prices for the Rapide start at $209,995.
