The Ultimate in Seclusion: Sala Hospitality to Open Luxury Thai Beach Resort

By Paul Joseph

Yachting visitors to Thailand may wish to add an enticing new stop-off to their itinerary, following news of a lavish resort opening set to arrive later this year.

Nestled on the idyllic island of Koh Samui – a favourite diving spot among superyachts visiting the area – the new SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort and Spa will offer yachts the chance to anchor out before heading to shore and exploring its luxurious trappings.

Guests visiting the resort will have access to a state-of-the-art spa and gym, or they can even swap a few nights in their cabin for a stay in one of the resort’s beautiful villas to experience everything it has to offer.

The resort’s USP is seclusion and tranquillity combined with utmost luxury – a world away from the pulsating mayhem of Bangkok. A vast stretch of white, palm-fringed beach overlooks the pristine ocean, set against the backdrop of a dense rainforest.

Accommodation comes in the form of private pool villas and suites all discretely tucked away to offer maximum solitude. The design philosophy is ‘beach chic’, featuring sweeping curtains and bleached timber, while large private pools and outdoor showers compliment this sense of relaxed freedom.

Other highlights include an open-air beachfront restaurant, The Beach House, which serves fresh seafood in private dining spaces and romantic gazebos. Also on hand is a vibrant Beach Bar where guests are invited to sample freshly made, local cocktails while taking in the island’s renowned sunset vistas.

The resort is scheduled to launch in two phases, starting in November 2017 with the opening of the Beach Wing comprising 52 pool villas and pool suites. The second phase, called the Garden Wing, will be completed in 2018 and will comprise 83 rooms, pool villas and pool suites, as well as the SALA Spa and SALA Gym, a garden swimming pool, an open-air kitchen experience and a Garden Pool Bar.

Thailand is currently making significant efforts to attract more superyachts to its waters and transform it from mere cruising grounds to a hub of yachting activity. The most recent development in this move has been the availability of a new charter licence for superyachts visiting the country.

Indeed, with plans for a new superyacht marina on Koh Samui still very much in the pipeline, the resort may well become a popular haunt with the world’s yachting elite for years to come.

SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort and Spa is the latest opening from SALA Hospitality Group, owner and operator of several luxury resorts and beach hotels across Thailand.
