The Virgin Clubhouse Offers the Ultimate in Pre-Flight Pampering

By Paul Joseph

The anxieties of a long-haul flight can begin before stepping on a plane. The risk of a forgotten passport, a lengthy flight delay, or lost baggage can give rise to a pre-flight tension that makes the whole thing feel like a thankless ordeal.

Virgin Atlantic's Clubhouse Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport is designed to ease those concerns, offering a luxurious retreat where you can indulge in an array of lavish services and amenities and forget about the arduous journey ahead.

Available to Virgin passengers with special access to Virgin lounges (including Upper Class flyers and Gold Card holders), the Clubhouse is located within the Virgin Departure Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3. Spread over 3 levels, the space is designed to feel like a private members club, boasting an open plan lounge area, restaurant and spa.

In the restaurant a selection of delicacies, including fine cheeses, smoked salmon and fresh meats, are available along with complimentary beverages.

The spa area offers a range of treatments, including massages and manicures, with products provided by cosmetics maker Cowshed, including its own range of scented candles.

For entertainment, visitors can sit back in recliners and watch a huge flat screen TV, play on the iPads that are available to use at their leisure (the lounge also offers free WiFi), or indulge in a more competitive pursuit by using the Clubhouse pool table.

Clubhouse staff make regular announcements to update you on your boarding time, ensuring that however relaxed you get, you won't risk missing your flight.

Although by that point, you may not want to go anywhere else.

The Virgin Clubhouse Lounge at Heathrow is open from 7am to 10.30pm or last departure.
