Tom Ford Unveils First Luxury Watch

By Paul Joseph

Almost a year-and-a-half after announcing his plans to create a luxury timepiece, world renowned American fashion designer Tom Ford has finally made good on this pledge.

Created in partnership with Bedrock Manufacturing Company, which also produces Shinola and Filson leather goods, the Tom Ford 001 unisex watch features a classic, timeless design with a sleek rectangular silhouette that wraps around the wrist.

There is no word on the movement driving the 001, but the watch is expected to use a caliber from Ronda that supplies the base movements used in Shinola and Filson watches.

The watch will be available in a variety of case materials including 18-karat yellow gold, stainless steel and a DLC finish. It also comes with a strap system designed to easily slip in different bands.

There’s no confirmation on the movement to drive the 001, but the watch is likely to use a caliber from Ronda that supplies the base movements used in Shinola and Filson watches.

“Form truly follows function as the 001 case has been carefully designed to allow for a quick and effortless interchange of straps that glide in and out of the case in an original and straight forward manner,” says Tom Ford.

The price for the Tom Ford 001 will range from $2,190 to $10,100, depending on how the watch is configured, and will be available at flagship stores worldwide soon.
