Vamizi Island Gets Lavish New Private Villa

By Paul Joseph

Vamizi, an ultra-luxury private island in Mozambique in one of the region’s most idyllic yachting destinations, has opened its latest lavish villa to bring its total number of residences to six.

Called Tartaruga, meaning ‘turtle’ in Portuguese, the new 5-bedroom villa can sleep up to 14 people and is set within 3 acres of forest and offers 130 metres of pristine beachfront.

The villa’s main living area has a striking palm thatch roof, supported by pillars of locally collected casuarina driftwood. Its open sides lead on to a vast deck, home to a saltwater swimming pool, which flows into the landscaped gardens leading down to the ocean.

Adjacent to the living area is a shaded outside gazebo, with a further dining area located at the edge of the beach.
Like all of Vamizi’s private villas, Tartaruga is staffed with its own chef and hospitality team and guests have access a 4x4 car and driver.

Watersports activities available to guests include sailing boats, paddleboards and kayaks, along with fishing, diving, dhow sailing, nature walks, community visits and picnics.

Tartaruga is currently open for bookings. The sixth new Private Villa, 'Papillio' will be open for bookings from May 2015.
