Verdura Golf & Spa Resort Opens in Sicily

By B. Roberts

Among the classical fishing villages and ancient ruins of Sicily’s stunning South Coast, The Rocco Forte Collection have opened a new luxurious golf resort near the small village of Sciacca.

Due to appear on the 2010 Condé Nast Hot List, the Verdura Golf Resort offers exclusivity and discretion alongside 230 hectares of stunning landscape and 1.8km of private coastline.

The Verdura resort, however, holds just 203 rooms and suites, providing a sense of space and privacy against some of the most stunning backdrops of Sicily. All rooms hold private terraces and sea views alongside luxurious Olga Polizzi designed interiors.

The two courses themselves were expertly designed by Kyle Phillips, designer of the renowned Kingsbarns Links Course near St. Andrews and the Grove Course outside of London.

For those who don’t indulge in golf, the resort is also family orientated, holding eight restaurants, with one offering traditional Sicilian cuisine housed in a 15th-century watchtower, a spa and even children's clubs.

Sicily is a breathtaking part of the Mediterranean, offering a diverse and captivating escape and now a high-quality game of golf.
