Vertu Launch $14,500 “Signature for Bentley” Handset

Luxury phone makers Vertu have announced the second model to emerge from their partnership with car brand Bentley.

Following the launch last year of a limited edition smartphone that marked the start of their relationship, the two companies have now revealed details of the ‘Signature for Bentley’ custom handset.

Inspired by the Bentley Mulsanne Speed, the new handset is billed as combining new materials and unique finishes.

Notable features include a carbon fiberpillow sharing the same weave as the car, and a Beluga Black calf leather rear, using leather from the same tannery as the Mulsanne Speed.

The Signature for Bentley also comes with polished stainless steel side and tactile knurled finishes that bring to mind the Bentley control knobs, while the keypad is finished in sapphire crystal, with each key sitting on a ruby.

Priced at £14,500, the phone is to be showcased at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and Concourse d’Elegance, before it is officially launched in September.

Founded in 1998, Vertu was solely owned by the Finnish mobile-phone manufacturer Nokia until 2012 June when Nokia sold 90 per cent of the company's equity share to private group EQT VI.
