Veuve Clicquot Globalight by Karim Rashid: hot way to keep champagne cool

By superyachts.com

Lighting up the world of champagne with a touch of pink, the limited edition Veuve Globalight Champagne Cooler is as hot as it is exclusive.

Sensual and feminine in design, the orb-shaped Globalight is a multi-functional, portable cooler that not only chills the champagne but also illuminates it and serves as an effective carry case.

A soft halo of light ensures the champagne within remains at an ideal serving temperature for up to four hours.

Only 500 pieces of the limited edition cooler will be created, each carrying a price tag of US$4,000.

It will be available online from e-clicquot and will be unveiled exclusively in the USA at W Hotels.

The Globalight was created in celebration of the Veuve Clicquot Rose Champagne and is the second collaboration between Rashid and Veuve Clicquot following the "Loveseat" launched in 2008.

Rashid’s design has been described as a modern interpretation of the traditional French chandelier; invoking ideas of intimate dinners and romantic moments.

The designer himself has said the inspiration for the cooler was born from an oblique scribble drawn around the Veuve rose bottle that triggered the idea of surrounding the bottle with illumination.
