Villa Làrio: Lake Como's Heavenly Sanctuary

By Christina Tsangaris

While seeking serenity has become a symptom of escaping the COVID-19 pandemic, finding the perfect luxury recluse is harder than it seemed. Private exclusivity? Check. Secluded in nature? At the mercy of the sunset? Check. Villa Làrio's allure is as much about its exclusivity as it is about great food, panoramic views and Italian hospitality.

Villa Làrio is an exclusive, boutique property that sits on the shores of Lake Como, arguably the most famous of Italy’s great lakes. This 19th century large property, previously owned by the renowned Lombardi family, is extremely private, with breathtaking views from every Suite. Capturing the discretion of a home with the convenience of a five-star hotel, Villa Làrio is the perfect secluded lakeside getaway.

Rooms & Suites

Villa Làrio’s 18 Suites are located in four different buildings: Il Palazzo, Villa Bianca, the Pavilion and the Garden Suite, spread across two acres of private gardens, retaining the property’s immensely private setting. All Suites have a completely unique feel and have been designed by interior design brand Castagna 1939, a well-respected interior designer based on Lake Como. The whole property is also available for exclusive access, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the splendour of one of Como’s most luxurious properties all to themselves or for an intimate wedding celebration.

What about the Pavilion?

Nestled on the cliffs towering over the lake, the Pavilion offers views right from the comfort of your bed. Situated at the heart of the lake, boasting panoramic views, this unique villa offers private access, an independent kitchen, living and dining room, private sundeck, private access to the pool, garden and two bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms making it a well-Suited choice for families.

Food & Beverage

Michele Tamburrino, Executive Chef Joined the team at Villa Làrio in 2017. Using his local expertise, Michele has helped build the hotel’s reputation as a dining destination on the lake. Michele developed an authentic passion for cooking and his ability to create and enhance dishes with aromas, flavours and colours of the Mediterranean has stemmed from this. From fish freshly sourced from Lake Como itself and tomatoes picked fresh from the gardens, to the art of making homemade pasta and olive oil, the restaurant promises an exceptional culinary experience for both guests of the hotel and visitors joining for lunch.

Activities

Whether guests are enjoying the 20m infinity pool with a 360 degree view from the cliffs to the lake, or setting off from the private pontoon for a fresh morning swim, Villa Làrio ensures the ultimate authentic Italian escape. Complimentary yoga sessions for guests are offered amongst the serene bi-century old Cedar gardens and there are plenty of reading spots to be found under the trees.

In addition to the direct access to the lake and the private pontoon. Nautical sports can be organizing such as water skiing, kayaking or paddle. Lake tours by riva boats are also available upon request and can be booked with a picnic basket filled with seasonal Italian delights, perfect for those wanting to explore further afield.

Villa Làrio is also the start of a number of hiking trails allowing to explore surrounding villages or experience different point of views of the lake. While many come to Lake Como to experience the essence of Italian dolce vita, the surrounding of Villa Làrio also offer many outdoor opportunities. Villa Làrio also has plenty of space for remote working and will happily help accommodate requests for conference rooms whilst staying at Villa Làrio.
