VistaJet Founder Discusses Setting A New Precedent in Luxury Aviation

By B. Roberts

Thomas Flohr, Owner, Founder and Chairman of the leading luxury aviation service VistaJet spoke to us about setting a new standard in the luxury industry.

Thomas Flohr is the man who founded VistaJet, the luxury aviation company which is carving a huge niche in the luxury market. In an interview with Superyachts.com at the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show, Thomas Flohr told us about their new fleet of 30 high-quality luxury aircraft; allowing the client to fly anywhere in the world in a moments notice.

VistaJet created a new, higher standard in luxury aviation by providing a fleet of various multi-purpose aircraft which all feature identical exterior and interior designs; featuring rich wood furnishings, opulent carpeting and high-quality glass and silver. With an identically designed fleet of different jets, clients can experience the same comfortable journey in enviable style and luxury.

The VistaJet fleet consists of thirty aircraft from six high-quality models, all less then three years old; ranging from the highly sought-after Global Express XRS, Challenger 850, Challenger 605, LearJet 85, LearJet 60 XR, and the LearJet 40 XR.

VistaJet made a niche for itself as a leading high-end business tool by taking a 20 year old format and revolutionising it for the high-net-worth individual. Thomas Flohr evolved the idea of fractional ownership into a simplified business model, allowing clients to buy 200 hours a year of a company owned jet or buying back 600 hours if the client wishes to own the entire asset.

At the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show, VistaJet unveiled a chic new collection of pilot and flight attendant uniforms to coincide with the new, revitalized cabin interiors, including designer ranges of tableware, silverware and soft furnishings.

The cabin revitalization project was spearheaded by Nina Flohr, daughter of the Owner, Founder and Chairman of the company, saying “My own travel adventures have inspired and helped me shape our cabin upgrade … these two new additions to our cabin are the crystallisation of many customer comments and we are confident the new elements we are introducing will demonstrate why we continue to lead the world in offering the best possible service in private aviation. Our ethos is that VistaJet is a lifestyle, not just a product, and these additions reflect that sentiment.”

Thomas Flohr, an owner of a 43m fast cruising Italian superyacht, said Monaco was the perfect location to announce the new look cabin interiors as there was a natural synergy between private aviation and superyachts.
