Vulcain Launches 50s Presidents’ “Pegasus” Timepiece

By Paul Joseph

Historical Swiss watchmaker Vulcain has added a new timepiece to its enamel collection featuring the Greek mythological creature Pegasus – a symbol of wisdom and knowledge – on its dial.

Available in two versions – ‘In the Sky’ and ‘On The Mountain’, both limited to just 18 pieces – the watches have been created to mark the grand opening of the first Vulcain Monoboutique in Beijing as well as to honour the 2014 Chinese Year of the Horse.

Housed in a 42mm case, the watches’ dials contain “Grand Feu” cloisonné enamel as well as 5N 18-karat pink gold. Domed shape sapphire crystal glass is a striking element, whilst on the case-back there is a further sapphire engraved with a “V” for Vulcain.

Other notable features include a Manufacture Vulcain self-winding Cricket Calibre V-20 movement, a black Louisiana alligator leather strap with pink gold pin buckle, and 42 hours power reserve.

Founded in 1858, Vulcain are the inventor of the alarm complication for wristwatches.
