Waldorf Astoria Open Private Island Resort in the Maldives

Luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria has opened a brand new private resort in the heart of the beautiful Maldives.

Called th Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi, the exclusive resort is spread across three separate islands and features 122 lavish villas, each boasting a patio furnished with a swinging daybed, a dining gazebo, an outdoor shower and an infinity pool.

The overwater villas also feature two suspended hammocks and a reef option with a stilted deck for added comfort.

Guests looking for more intimacy can opt for the Stella Maris Ocean Villas that feature one-bedroom duplexes with a private chef’s service, an alfresco barbecue station, and a hot tub.

The resort is also a foodie’s paradise, with a choice of 11 dining venues including one specialising in Middle Eastern cuisine, another Chinese cuisine, and another fresh local ingredients from the property’s own herb garden.

There’s also a barbecue grill eatery by Dave Pynt, of Michelin-starred Burt Ends fame, while those craving a more intimate experience can dine at the ultra-romantic Terra – a treetop concept housed in a private den with incredible views of the ocean.

Other amenities at the resort include a world-class spa and wellness sanctuary, watersports and a PADI dive centre along with a waterpark for kids and young adults.
