Whisky Tasting for the World’s Elite Connoisseurs

By P. Joseph

Some of the world’s richest whisky enthusiasts will descend on Las Vegas next month for a weekend of high-end and rare whisky tasting.

The "Nth" Universal Whisky Experience will take place at the prestigious Wynn Resorts Hotel and will bring together the world’s leading whisky companies and most dedicated whisky connoisseurs.

Attendees – who will pay more than $500 a ticket – will be greeted with a crystal glass on arrival. They will then have the chance to sample some of the rarest and most valued whiskies that exist.

The event is organised by Atlanta-based entrepreneur and whisky collector Mahesh Patel.

"The purpose of this weekend is to gather the country's most passionate whisky lovers for tasting experiences they would not normally have access to," says Mr Patel.

There will be a range of special events, including the chance to attend master classes hosted by some of the world’s most respected whisky experts, where visitors can learn about pairing whisky with food and cigars.

Old and rare whisky has increasingly captured the interest of serious investors in recent years. In 2010 a bottle of 64-year-old Macallan in a Lalique decanter sold for £288,000 at a charity auction.

Whisky is considered highly collectible, due to many bottles coming from small families, or even being entirely unique. Unlike wine, it also tends to keep indefinitely.

The event will take place on March 18th and 19th.
