Zenith Marks Launch of New Range Rover Evoque with Limited Edition Timepiece

By Paul Joseph

British automaker Range Rover has collaborated with watch brand Zenith to create a commemorative special edition timepiece to mark the launch of the all-new Evoque SUV.

Called the Defy Classic Skeleton Range Rover Edition, the watch features the distinctive, bold style of the Defy collection along with plenty of subtle design cues inspired by the 2020 Evoque.

The watch is the third special edition to emerge out of the partnership between Zenith and Range Rover, which follows the Zenith El Primero Range launched in late 2016 and the Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition introduced in early 2017.

As with the previous two special editions, the newly unveiled Zenith Defy Classic Range Rover Edition doesn’t come with any obvious Range Rover branding on the front of the watch – rather, a simple engraving on the caseback indicating the Range Rover name.

However, Evoque-inspired design elements include the openwork dial which mirrors the wheel design of the premium SUV, along with the quilted-patterned upholstery of the car picked up in the ‘diamond’ motif gracing the rubber strap of the watch.

The case measures 41mm in diameter and is crafted from lightweight brushed titanium. It is powered by the Elite Calibre 670 automatic movement, which can be better seen from the sapphire caseback, including the Arctic Petrol blue oscillating weight. The movement offers a minimum power reserve of 48 hours.

The Zenith Defy Classic Range Rover Edition is available in a limited run of just 200 pieces with a price tag of about $7,500.
