Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Master Grande Tradition Répétition Minutes Perpétuelle

Swiss luxury watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced its latest creation, the limited edition Master Grande Tradition Répétition Minutes Perpétuelle.

The launch of the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel by Jaeger-LeCoultre at this year’s SIHH watch fair marked the company's return to the grand complication.

Now the watchmaker has continued with the ultra-complication theme with this new piece, a highly complicated watch boasting a combination of a perpetual calendar and minute repeater augmented by a highly detailed and novel construction.

The watch case is in 18-karat white gold and is made of 80 hand-finished components, including separate lugs. It measures 43mm wide and just 13.72mm high – surprisingly thin for a minute repeater.

All of these components are finished in contrasting treatments, including polished tops, recessed, sandblasted flanks; and a polished convex bezel.

The watch is powered with a brand-new movement, the caliber 950, which has a power reserve of 38 hours. In addition to the perpetual calendar, a unique gong configuration was created to optimise the acoustical qualities of its minute repeater.

Replicating the strength of antique sonnerie pocket watches, the new configuration elongates the gong and loops it around the entire height of the case.

Other notable features include a perpetual calendar module, with indications spread over 3 sub-dials, with the date at 3 o’clock, the month at 6 o’clock, the day of the week and moon phase at 9 o’clock, and a full-year indication on 4 digits sandwiched between 7 and 8 o’clock.

The watch is available with either a blue flinqué enamel dial or plainer silver grained dial, priced, at €240,000 and €225,000 respectively. Each version is limited to just 30 examples.
