German carmakers Audi are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their remarkable 5.2-litre V10 engine housed within its R8 model with a limited edition version of the hugely popular sports car.

Officially unveiled at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the naturally aspirated V10 Fuel Stratified Injection was incorporated into the higher-spec R8 supercar.

Now, a decade later, the Audi R8 V10 Decennium pays tribute to the 10-cylinder motor that won multiple trophies for the world renowned automaker.

Limited to only 222 units, the special edition will be launched with the next-generation coupe later this year.

It will be available in the coupe body style, painted in a matte Daytona Gray colour contrasted by numerous bronze accents. Owners can also choose from five metallic hues and one pearl effect colour.

The intake manifold and milled 20-inch wheels along with the engine cover feature matt bronze, while the Audi badges, front spoiler, side sills, and diffuser all are dressed in gloss black.

On the inside, the cabin has numerous special edition logos and plenty of glossy carbon-fibre inlays. The seats feature Alcantara inserts with diamond quilting, and the centre armrest, door panels, and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel all come with copper-coloured contrast stitching.

The special edition is based on the range-topping R8, which means the V10 underneath the hood produces 620 horsepower and a peak torque of 428 pound-feet. Audi claims that it can do the 0-62 mph sprint in 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 206 mph.

Available this spring, the Audi R8 V10 Decennium is priced at €222,000.
