A London furniture designer has created a lavish games table that can be utilised to play a choice of Chess, Backgammon or Bridge.

Billed as being “inspired by the quality of a Bentley, the style of an Aston Martin and the best of British engineering, the table was created to inhabit only the most opulent surroundings, be it a palatial home or a luxury yacht.

Indeed, one of the first customers to commission the table, which costs £35,000, has earmarked the piece to be housed on his yacht in Barbados.

Made from the finest veneers and leathers, the tables are built to the highest standards of workmanship, from their Stirling Silver bridge pencils to the highly polished nickel and leather backgammon stones and doubling dice.

“The table was born from a client who I had previously made for,” says designer Stephen Skolnik. “He knew of my love of engineering and games. Foolishly, I agreed to combine all three games. It was a two-year adventure but now it takes five months.”

As well as offering the table in standard form of Macassar and Figured Birch, it can also be customised in leather, depending on customer request.

The Statesman Games Table will be launched at the prestigious Masterpiece art event in London in June.
