A new luxury resort hotel with a unique design and décor that makes it resemble a honeycomb is currently been built in the Chinese city of Nanjing.

Located beside a cliff in the Laoshan Mountain area in the capital of China’s eastern Jiangsu province, the resort contains 500 lavish guest rooms that are in keeping with the property’s generally sumptuous design style.

On completion, the project will comprise of a 12-storey tower and a second 20-storey tower with a connected three-storey podium. It will form part of the Dragon Valley theme park that is slated to open in 2020.

Among its many luxurious features, the hotel boasts two giant lion heads that have been carved out of natural rock by over 100 sculptors for around half a year. They stand an incredible 30 metres above the ground and are a sight to behold.

The breathtaking hotel spans a total of 105,000 square metres and is expected to become a major landmark on the lanscape in China’s eastern province.

The surrounding area is a popular getaway for thrill-seekers looking for experiences such as rock-climbing and bungee-jumping.

The Nanjing ‘Honeycomb’ hotel will open to the public in the second half of 2019.
