In these times of uncertainty, it is always reassuring to see a venue full to the brim with passionate purveyors of luxury.

Last week the 2015 edition of the Salon QP watch air in London drew record attendance figures, with the Saatchi Gallery in west London packed with watch connoisseurs keen to see the latest horological innovations. You can read a full review of the show in today’s newsletter.

Elsewhere this week, there’s a report on Italian luxury fashion house Versace and its opening of a new hotel in Dubai. Overlooking Dubai Creek, the Palazzo Versace features interiors and furnishing personally designed by Donatella Versace, vice president and chief designer of the Versace Group.

Versace are not the only luxury fashion brand venturing deeper into the world of hospitality, as compatriots Fendi are also opening a luxury hotel, this time a boutique property in the Italian capital of Rome.

There’s also news on what is billed as the world’s most expensive gin being sold at the Birmingham branch of prestigious department store Selfridges, while Swiss watchmakers Vacheron Constantin have created an eye-catching new collection of timepieces.

Returning to Salon QP, luxury car manufacturer Lotus was present for the three-day show where it held a lavish exhibition showcasing its distinctive brand of car making skills.

If that’s not enough, Swiss watch brand Ulysse Nardin have become the first international watch company to open a store in Nigeria, while iconic jewellery house Tiffany & Co have launched ’s a striking 17-Piece collection for London’s Dover Street Market.
