Notes From The Editor

Week Commencing 26 May 2014

Better known for its annual Grand Prix and yacht shows, Monaco also plays host each year to a distinguished contemporary arts fair that draws artists and collectors from around the world.

This year’s edition took place recently and it was possibly the biggest and best yet, attracting artists from more than 70 international galleries staging over 4000 exhibits, including an array of stunning paintings and sculptures. We report on the prestigious art event in today’s newsletter.

Elsewhere this week, there’s a report on a sensational Geneva jewellery auction which saw several world records fall away, including the purchase by Harry Winston of what is said to be the world’s largest known flawless vivid blue diamond.

We also bring you news from private jet fractional ownership company NetJets who are set to take delivery of an impressive new aircraft, the sale of an ultra-luxurious chain of private islands in the Bahamas, and a stunning new women’s timepiece by Rolex.

If that’s not enough, there’s an incredible new smartphone on the market courtesy of luxury phone makers Gresso, an announcement by a Qatar investment fund on the takeover of five Intercontinental hotels, and a new collection of trinkets by Swiss watch and jewellery house Chopard.
