Notes From The Editor

Week Commencing 8 August 2011

Louis Vuitton are synonymous with travel. There can be few luxury connoisseurs who do not count at least one travel bag or accessory adorned with the famous LV monogram amongst their collection.

Now the prestigious French fashion house has unveiled its 2012 Spring/Summer collection, inspired by – yep, you guessed it – travel. The collection was recently showcased at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris and has received rave reviews for its heavily Africa-inspired creations. Check out our report on the new range, including a video from the exclusive Paris catwalk unveiling.

Elsewhere this week, we bring you three more fantastic videos – each highlighting the vast scope of the luxury industry. First up there’s dramatic footage of one of the year’s most exciting nautical timepieces from BOSS Watches, a report on the four remaining unsold apartments at the stunning Vanderbilt Residences in Newport, Rhode Island, and an innovative new illuminous label from champagne brand Dom Pérignon.

There’s also a profile of another stunning creation from renowned Liverpool-based designer Stuart Hughes, who has helped create what is billed as the world’s first gold home – boasting 200kg of pure gold.

Finally, we report on an ultra-exclusive new private members club in London, and two more luxury watch launches - from Ebel and Jacob Jensen Design. Have a great week.
