North Island Marina

Port McNeill is situated on the north east corner of Vancouver Island and is the tourist hub of the North Island. Our community, being “the Gateway to the Broughton Archipelago” is the perfect community for boaters looking to fuel, reprovision while enjoying some of great services and hospitality. Our community is situated only a 5 minute walk from the marina with two great grocery stores, numerous restaurants, chandleries and sporting equipment stores. We are also only a short ferry ride from both Alert Bay and their amazing U’mista Cultural Center and Sointula, a charming small community on Malcolm Island. For boaters cruising the Inside Passage or circumnavigating Vancouver Island, Port McNeill is the perfect place to reprovision as we are only 55 nautical miles from rounding Cape Caution and 42 nautical miles from Hope Island at the tip of Vancouver Island..

Port McNeill became established in 1937 after loggers settled into the area and formed a sense of community. Port McNeill became the first town to be incorporated under the new Canadian Constitution in 1966 and was named after captain William Henry McNeill of the Hudson Bay Company. The North Island has, and continues to, provide incredible wealth to the province for being a main producer of natural resources. Although forestry and fishing is still a good source of revenue for the community, over the last 10 years has focused on growth in the tourism industry.
