Melbourne Luxury Yachting Guide

An absolute mecca for high-brow cultural events, music festivals and world-class sporting tournaments, Melbourne is a shining light on the Australian map. Located on the south-east coast of Victoria, Melbourne can be characterised by its bustling trams, irresistible shopping, thriving café scene and a jam-packed events calendar.

Often referred to as Australia’s sporting capital, Melbourne hosts an array of exciting world-class events year round including the Australian Open tennis grand-slam in January, and international cricket fixtures in the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Victoria is also the home of Australian Rules Football (AFL) and a game of this unique sport can be watched from any one of Melbourne’s premier sporting venues from March to September.

Melbourne only shines brighter after dark with a vibrant nightlife to rival that of any big-name city, offering everything from wonderful theatre, rooftop drinking spots and intimate side-walk restaurants to elegant bars, sprightly pubs and underground clubs. The multi-cultural centres of Carlton, Richmond and Fitzroy and the exciting Chinatown are the places to head for delicious cuisine with a difference.

Melbourne City
The distinctive Yarra River weaves an elegant path through the cosmopolitan City Centre where Melbourne’s most luxurious hotels can be found nestled beside wonderfully historic buildings. This happening centre is rich in intriguing sights, from the glamorous waterfront stretch of Southbank to the architecturally striking cultural complex of Federation Square filled with eloquent art galleries.

The historic arcades that riddle the streets are filled with designer boutiques, quirky emporiums, and chic cafés, while world-famous museums, sprawling gardens and luxurious casinos hide around the next corner.

Mornington Peninsula
Not far from the city is the spectacular Mornington Peninsula, which creates fabulous cruising scenery. Take in the magnificent mansions of Portsea lining the horizon before stepping ashore to where you can swim with dolphins or laze on the beach at the delightful seaside town of Sorrento. For a full day inland, Red Hill and Main Ridge are home to sumptuous wineries, while Flinders boasts a simply superb golf course.

Phillip Island
Just over 500 metres from the coast is the truly enthralling Phillip Island, best known for the colony of adorable fairy penguins that waddle from sea to burrow each night, but is also home to koalas, Australian fur seals and excellent fishing spots that make it the perfect place to spend a night off shore.

Great Ocean Road
For a day with a difference, take to the word-famous Great Ocean Road and catch a breathtaking glimpse of the Twelve Apostles alongside the spectacular backdrop of the majestic South Pacific.
