Explore Montenegro By Day...

For a day spent ashore, these are the places to be pampered, the sights to see, the shopping districts to delve into, the activities to indulge in, and the gourmet treats to discover.

Hotel Splendid
Hotel Splendid SPA sits on the edge of the Adriatic Sea in Becici and offers visitors an indulgent combination of exotic therapies and treatments in a sublime surrounding with personal service at the forefront. The first of its kind in the area, the SPA uses local botanicals and natural therapies to create the perfect day break.

Avala Resort and Villas
Find the Avala Resort and Villas in Budva; a five-star hotel offering a first-class wellness centre complete with saunas, solarium, cosmetic treatments and massage services.

Some of the country’s best beaches lie along the Budvanska Rivijera, a 20 kilometre coastal stretch south of Budva flooded in white sands and simply perfect for sunbathing and swimming. The beach in Sveti Stefan is as romantic as they come, laid out in front of the medieval walled village and dotted with white sun-lounges and dainty umbrellas.

In Kotor, the best shops and boutiques can be found in the interior of Old Kotor selling footwear and clothes from well-known designers particularly those from Italy. Mixed amongst the fashion stores are lovely antique shops and book stores that are well worth peeking into.

For keen shoppers, 40 kilometres inland is the city of Podgorica, where the latest in greatest to land in the country from the designer world can be found. Home to Montenegro’s first international-style shopping mall, it also boats smaller boutiques representing top-notch brands.

St Nicholas’ Island
Sail to St Nicholas’ Island, a short way off the coast of Budva, and visit this strangely angled wedge of rock offering three smooth sandy beaches and a small restaurant amongst the dense Mediterranean vegetation.

Ladder of Cattaro
Hire a car for the day and negotiate the spectacular Ladder of Cattaro. A series of seemingly impossible hairpins, the road alongside the ancient zigzag mule track offers astounding views at each of its 28 ascending turns until you reach Krstac where the view of the entire gulf is worth lingering for. Further along lie the villages of Njegusi and Cetinje.

Slovenska Plaza
Slovenska Plaza is a great place to spend a day getting active on land, offering quality tennis courts, bowls and indoor swimming pools.

For an elegant beachside lunch, head to Bala in Budva with its large open terrace.

For a local favourite, Jadran serves unbelievably fresh fish in a welcoming environment.
