45m Blue Water Cruising Ketch

This was Owen Clarke's first superyacht project, a design undertaken in co-operation with the Aivan studio, for a client with a young family. Multiple concepts between 42m and 45m developd into a fully developed design that was taken to the build tender stage before the Financial Crisis brought the project to a halt. A composite carbon-Nomex structure and schooner rig was chosen because the owners wanted to have the power and responsiveness of a true performance sailing yacht while being able to cruise in all conditions with only four professional crew, including the chef and stewardess. OC were chosen as naval architects for the project because of our experience in composite structures, modern performance hull design and the development of easy to handle rig, sailplan and deck systems for short handed racing yachts.
