Notes From The Editor

Editors Comments: Week Ending 09/12/2011

With the Antigua Charter Show well underway, some of the finest yachts in the world have gathered in the Leeward Islands to showcase the potential winter charter opportunities available this year. However, the charter industry is not the only sector which has been active over the recent weeks.

Merle Wood & Associates announced their successful sale of the 50m superyacht JeMaSa today, whilst International Yacht Collection reported the news of another sale; the 40m motor yacht Brazil. Whilst brokerage news brought reports of new signings and two exciting new sales, news from the shipyards stole the show this week.

Trinity Yachts announced the launch of the impressive 74m superyacht New Horizon this week, marking the largest yacht to be launched in the US over 2011. However, this launch is not the only remarkable report to recently emerge from the shipyards.

Benetti introduced the Classic 121’ FF1 superyacht to the water this week, not only marking the launch of a classic, characteristic motor yacht but the second launch in ten days: a truly remarkable achievement in the closing months of 2011.

In other news, Pendennis announced an intriguing merger of their facilities in Falmouth; joining Devonport and Pendennis together under the mantle of Pendennis Plus.

This has been a very positive week in regards to news surrounding the Superyacht Industry and with 2012 closing in, I’m sure that the New Year will be a very exciting year.
